Connecting telephone wires is fairly straightforward. However, you need to have the necessary information. Even a beginner can connect the telephone wire correctly. The main thing is to be attentive.
Instructions
Step 1
Purchase a standard telephone jack from a specialist retailer. Install it. If you change your telephone set in the future, you will not have to deal with the pinout of the cables again.
Step 2
Connect the telephone line to the red and green wires in the socket - this is standard. In an RJ-11 / RJ-12 connector, this corresponds to the middle, 3 and 4 pins. Currently, there are telephones in which the connection is made through 2 and 5 contacts. Most often, such devices are produced in Germany. They are extremely rare. A good example is the Actron AB with a digital answering machine and a menu in German. This telephone is unlikely to be able to be plugged into an outlet in a standard way. Replacing the cable won't help either. The device uses 2 and 5 pins in the connector, and the telephone cable is made 1-in-1. To connect such a device, you need to open the outlet and use the black one instead of the green one. Also, instead of a red wire, a yellow one. Through the red wire goes "minus" in the telephone line, and through the green wire - "plus". In the vast majority of cases, the polarity of the switch is not so important. However, sometimes you can find telephones that will not work if connected incorrectly.
Step 3
To determine the polarity in the telephone line, you can use an ordinary Chinese tester. If connected incorrectly, it will show negative voltage value. If you don't have a tester at hand, then use regular potatoes. Cut it in half and stick in two wires. The color should change near the positive end. Most often, no one pays attention to the polarity.
