It is necessary

  • - telephone socket;
  • - screwdriver;
  • - nippers;
  • - telephone cable;
  • - cable box;
  • - self-tapping screws;
  • - screwdriver.

Instructions

Step 1

In some cases, installing an additional telephone socket can be avoided. To do this, you will need to purchase a cord for your phone that is long enough to connect it to an existing outlet. You can use a telephone extension cord to connect devices with a non-removable cord.

Step 2

If you do decide to install an additional outlet, you must first purchase it. They are of two types: miniature RJ-11 and large-sized RTShK-4. See which plug your telephone has and select the appropriate socket for it. At the same time, purchase a telephone cable and cable duct of the required length, as well as self-tapping screws.

Step 3

Take the cable duct and secure it with self-tapping screws along the way from the existing telephone socket to the installation site of the new one. Run the cable inside the box, then close it.

Step 4

Screw the new socket onto the wall. Connect the cable to it as follows. If it is an RJ-11 socket, connect the cable conductors to the two middle contacts, and leave the outer two free. If a socket of the RTShK-4 type is installed, open the plug of your telephone set and see which of its contacts the wires are connected to. Connect the cable conductors in the socket to the same contacts. For reference: according to the standard, in the RTShK-4 socket, it is customary to connect the wires to the two right contacts, but this requirement is not always met. Close the plug and socket.

Step 5

Open the old socket. Pick up the handset on any parallel telephone in the apartment so that a call signal that could cause an electric shock cannot be received on the line. Connect the new cable in parallel with the old one. Close the socket and replace the handset on the parallel telephone.

Step 6

Connect your phone to the old wall socket. Make sure it works. Also make sure that the rest of the parallel machines are not out of order.
