It is possible to return, or restore, the native firmware of the D-Link Dir 300 router without contacting a specialized service. One of the conditions for such recovery is the presence of an assistant during some procedures, since it implies the simultaneous execution of several operations.
Instructions
Step 1
Connect the input of the WAN port of the router to the PC NIC using the supplied patch cord. Enter 192.168.20.80 in the IP address of the network card and type 255.255.255.0 in the Subnet mask field.
Step 2
Launch your Internet browser and type 192.168.20.81 in the text field of the application address bar. Do not use the Enter function key - this action is preparatory.
Step 3
Unplug the power of the router and press the Reset button with any thin, sharp object. Continue to hold down the Reset button and run the command interpreter utility. Type ping 192.168.20.81 -t at the command line and confirm the selected action by pressing the Enter key. This will allow you to control what is happening with the router.
Step 4
Power on the router while continuing to hold the Reset button. Wait 15 seconds and press the enter function key in the browser. This will open the Emergency Web Server in a browser window required to download the firmware. Specify the full path to the firmware files on the disk and click the Upload button. Wait for the display to appear on the screen and release the Reset button. Please note that the procedure will take 600 seconds.
Step 5
Unplug and re-enable the router. Make sure the lights on your router are working properly. Go to the web-interface of the router, delete the value of the IP-address of the network card and make sure that the D-Link Dir 300 firmware restore operation is successful.
Step 6
Please note that the above procedure is suitable for the specified model of the D-Link Dir 300 router, but cannot be used in the D-Link Dir 300 NRU device. The characteristics of these routers differ significantly and do not allow the D-Link Dir 300 NRU router firmware to be restored!
