Various audio programs are used to cut out vocals, but it is impossible to completely remove it at home. The entire process of removing a voice from a song is based on muffling or removing frequencies within the sound range of the singer's voice.
Necessary
Sony Sound Forge or Adobe Audition
Instructions
Step 1
Download a program for working with sound. Among the most popular applications are Sony Sound Forge and Adobe Audition. Install the editor you like by running the installer. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen.
Step 2
Run the installed program and open the sound file for editing using the File - Open menu. After that, select the Process - Channel Converter item (for Adobe Audition, a similar window is called through the Stereo Imagery - Channel Mixer). Experiment with the numbers shown in the window to find the best vocal ducking for your song.
Step 3
You can also use special plug-ins that are built into Adobe Audition and Sound Forge to delete a track with a voice. When working with Audition, go to the Effects - Stereo Imagey menu. In the window that appears, change the settings to get the best sound. Note that the parameter values will vary depending on the song. The Extract Audio line is responsible for the location of the vocal channel in the song. The Frequency Range setting determines the frequency range of the performer's voice.
Step 4
Presets can be selected from the list: Male Voice, Female Voice, Bass, and Full Vocal Position Track operation. Center Channel Level is responsible for the degree of damping - the lower the value, the more damping will be done.
Step 5
For Sound Forge, there is the iZotope Vocal Eraser plugin, which can be found under the FX Favorites item. Select Remove Vocal from the list of settings. The Suppression parameter adjusts the amount of sound attenuation, and Vocal Panning indicates the position of the voice in the sound channel. Vocal Type selects the male or female frequency range. The Quality parameter should be set to Full.
Step 6
There are also online services for removing words from a song. Although this method is not suitable for most melodies and the quality of cutting leaves much to be desired, in some cases it is possible to achieve partial deletion if the voice track is louder in volume than the instrumental accompaniment.
