Many help desks and telephone support services use interactive menus in their work. To be able to use this menu, you must turn on the tone mode of your telephone.

- - telephone set with push-button dialing device;
- - beeper.
Instructions
Step 1
Check which operating mode your telephone is currently in. Press a few number keys and listen to what sounds are heard from the phone speaker. If you hear a “squeak” of different tones, it means that your phone is already switched to tone mode. If “clicks” are heard when dialing a number from the handset, the phone is in pulse mode.
Step 2
Examine your phone case. If you find a switch labeled Tone / Pulse or T / P on the side or bottom, to turn on the tone mode, move the relay to the Tone (T) position.
Step 3
If your phone has a dedicated Tone key, press it to put the phone into tone dialing mode.
Step 4
If there is no special switch or key on your phone, temporarily switch your phone to tone dialing mode using the star key. Press the key and hold it down for a few seconds. The operating mode of the phone will be temporarily changed and you will be able to dial the number in tone mode. After the conversation is over and the connection is reset, the telephone will automatically return to the previous, pulse mode of operation.
Step 5
If you need to use tone dialing mode, and you have an old-style telephone with a dial in the form of a disk, use a special device - a beeper. Dial the number of the desired service using the rotary dial. When you need to switch the phone to tone mode, put the beeper to the phone microphone. Following the directions from the answering machine, enter the desired numbers on the beeper keypad.
