There are three types of iPhone flashing: updating to a newer one, flashing to any of the available ones, and restoring factory settings. All of them are performed using iTunes and lead to the deletion of user information. Computer-aided knowledge is encouraged, but not required.
Necessary
- - iTunes;
- - saved backup version of the required firmware (.ipsw file)
Instructions
Step 1
Make sure the saved backup file for the correct iPhone modem firmware is in an accessible location.
Step 2
Launch iTunes and connect your iphone to your computer.
Step 3
Wait until the end of the process of detecting the device by the program and specify your device in the left list "Devices" of the iTunes application window.
Step 4
Click the Check Now button when prompted to check for updates to put the device into recovery mode. There are two different recovery / firmware upgrade modes: Recovery Mode and DFU mode, which bypasses the iPhone operating system and allows you to directly flash the firmware.
Step 5
Wait for the device to enter recovery mode (black screen with thin whitish threads) and press the Shift function key.
An alternative method of transferring the iPhone to Recovery Mode is to simultaneously press the Home buttons (a large round button on the front of the device) and the power button located in the upper right part of the end of the gadget. Wait until the slider with a red arrow appears and the screen turns off. Further, the device screen will be covered with white thin lines. Continue to hold down both selected buttons until the cable image and the iTunes icon appear. Release both buttons.
Step 6
Click the Restore button in the iTunes display window for your device.
Step 7
Wait for the dialog box to appear asking you to select the desired.ipsw recovery backup file.
Step 8
Specify the available firmware previously saved on the disk and click the "Open" button to confirm the command execution.
Step 9
Click OK or Next in the opened window of the agreement with the terms of use of the licensed equipment.
Step 10
Wait until the process of restoring the selected device firmware is completed.
