The registry is a structured database of the Windows OS that contains information about the settings and state of the system. Many viruses modify the state of the registry to mask their presence. The result of these actions may be the prohibition of launching the "Control Panel", "Task Manager", the impossibility of surfing the Internet, etc.

Instructions

Step 1

To restore registry keys, you can use special editors. One of them is Glary Registry Repair. After installing and running the program, in the "Tasks" section, check the "Fix the registry" checkbox, then in the "Scan scope" select the Registry Integrity and Files and Folders items. In the Tasks section, click Search for Errors. After completing the search, the program will display a list of found errors. Click the Fix button.

Step 2

Another well-known program for fixing the registry is CCleaner. After installing and launching the program, in the left part of the dialog box, click on the "Registry" icon and in the "Registry integrity" section, check the boxes that you want to check. After completing the search, a list of found errors will appear on the right side of the screen

Step 3

Click Fix. Answer “Yes” to the system's question about saving the backup copy. Specify the location where the registry backup will be saved. It is necessary to restore the current state of the system if the fixes lead to problems.

Step 4

The first error from the list will appear on the screen, explaining why it happened. If you use the "Fix" button, the program will output each error in turn. To remove all problems at once, click Fix Selected.

Step 5

Another popular registry repair program is AVZ4. In the program menu, select "File", then the command "Database update" and click "Start" in a new window.

Step 6

Then choose the "Scan" option from the "File" menu. Mark the areas to be checked. After the scan is complete, use the System Restore command to repair the effects of viruses. Select the checkboxes of the functions you want to restore and click Perform Selected Operations.
