Television today is no longer as popular as the Internet. And yet there are programs and scenes that you want to save on your computer for viewing. At first glance, this may seem like a daunting task, but with a little effort and the right equipment, you can easily capture video from TV.

Necessary

  • - TV tuner card,
  • - special cable.

Instructions

Step 1

Match the TV tuner card to your computer. This is a device into which an antenna or cable from another signal receiver is connected. The most popular tuner manufacturers are AverMedia and Beholder. Go to your nearest computer hardware store and buy a TV tuner card for your computer. There are also devices of this type for laptops.

Step 2

Install yourself or contact the wizard to connect and configure the device. As a result, you will have a tulip antenna connector in your computer or laptop (it looks like a white and red round-shaped socket). The set with the tuner comes with a cable for a sound card and a CD with software.

Step 3

Connect the antenna to the corresponding jack on the tuner. Also connect your sound card with the supplied cable. To do this, connect the green output of the tuner to the blue input on the back of the computer. Turn on your computer and insert the device software disc into the drive. An auto-installer window will appear on the screen. Click "Install" and answer the wizard's questions. Run the shortcut of the proprietary tuner utility from the desktop. When you first start, you will be prompted to configure channels. Agree and wait for the program to finish.

Step 4

Configure the encoding process of the captured video and the save destination. In the main window of AverTV or BeholdTV find the button "Settings" and click it. In the "Record and Save" section, select a folder on your hard drive where programs will be recorded. Also specify the desired codec for compressing information. The best choice would be h.264, but older tuners do not work with this codec, so DivX or Xvid is a compromise. Save changes and close the settings section.

Step 5

Turn on any of the channels and press the "Record" button. You can use the supplied remote control or a button in the program menu. Real-time recording starts. To stop recording, press the Record button or the Stop button again.
