Many mobile phones of popular brands are subject to copying and counterfeiting. Among the market leaders in gray phones is the Nokia 8800. There are a number of ways to protect yourself from deception.

Step 1
Dial * # 06 # from the keypad of your phone. Make a note of the IMEI that appears on the screen. Compare with what is indicated under the battery cover and on the sticker on the box in which the phone was packed. All three numbers must match. Now go to the official site of Nokia or any other site that allows you to check the authenticity of the IMEI, and check it with a free service. The IMEI can also be verified by contacting a Nokia Service Center. A specialist will independently check your number against the database and will report the result of the verification.
Step 2
Remove the battery cover and remove the battery. There should also be stickers of compliance with communication standards, serial number and a sticker of compliance with Rostest quality standards. The latter is mandatory for all mobile phones and smartphones sold in Russia. All this information should be printed on white paper in black ink, have clear silhouettes and be easy to read. Letters should not smudge from touch. If these conditions are not met, your phone is probably a fake.
Step 3
Be sure to check your cell phone case. The original Nokia 8800 is made of plastic and metal. The case must exactly match the standard shown on the manufacturer's website. In addition, it should not have any unnecessary logos other than the Nokia logo. Also, there should be no characters in a non-Latin font. There should be no gaps between the parts, and there should also be no backlash.
Step 4
Inspect the battery. There must be a hologram on it. In one position, the manufacturer's logo is visible. In another, the slogan of the company: “Connecting people”.
Step 5
Genuine Nokia 8800 keyboards should contain only Cyrillic and Latin characters, as well as numbers.
Step 6
Become familiar with the functionality of your phone. It should not differ from the one declared by the manufacturer or include a built-in TV and a slot for a second SIM card. All inscriptions on the menu must be written in Russian or English (in no case, not in Chinese). The operating system must also match the one specified by the manufacturer in the documentation.
