A router is a universal device designed for distributing the Internet. The main advantage of this device is its versatility. The wide range of action allows several gadgets to connect to the network at once. But before use, for the correct operation of the router, preliminary configuration is required.
Instructions
Step 1
It is best to carry out the reconfiguration procedure by adjusting the existing parameters. This will significantly reduce the time. To do this, connect the router with a cable to a personal computer, open a browser and enter the address: 192.168.1.1. This will take you to the router interface. Immediately after entering this address, a window with two fields will appear. The first is for login, the second is for password. They must match with each other, unless, of course, user changes were made. Try typing user or admin. One thing will certainly do. It all depends on the brand name of the router used.
Step 2
After entering the interface, visually analyze each function. Decide what exactly you need to reconfigure. If the parameters of the Internet connection are lost, then go to the "Internet settings" tab, if you change the wi-fi data - "Wireless connection settings", in case of sudden blocking of some sites - "Parental control settings". Open the most recent tab to change the firmware. This is most commonly referred to as Router Settings. Click "Update Firmware" or download one from your computer.
Step 3
You can completely reset all router settings both in hardware mode, that is, through the user interface, or mechanically by pressing the Reset button on the back of the device. The dimensions of this button are very small, and you can only press on it with the help of some kind of device, for example, a needle or a refill from a ballpoint pen. Some routers are not equipped with it, and you can reset it by pressing and holding a few seconds, usually from ten to fifteen, the on / off button.
Step 4
When all the parameters are set at the factory level, the connection and the Internet will definitely be lost. You can configure it using the disk that comes with the router, or in the previous way - through the browser.
Step 5
Tuning with the disk is much easier, because many settings will be made in automatic mode. But it should be noted that the performance of the disk will completely depend on the bitness of the installed operating system. If the disk, for example, is 32-bit, and the OS is 64-bit, then this electronic media will most likely not start and will give an error.
Step 6
To configure manually, go to the control panel of the router, click "Internet Settings", enter the username and password specified in the agreement with your provider. Save changes and restart your computer. This procedure will complete the reconfiguration of the router and establish a connection to the Internet.
