If you are thinking about how to install a backlight on your keyboard, but do not want to spoil (drill) its body or table, you have the opportunity to implement your plan in a more "humane" way. It is not difficult to do this, and the result will pleasantly surprise you. The backlight will turn out to be powerful enough to work in the dark without harm to the eyes.
Necessary
- Two white LEDs;
- A piece of twisted pair;
- Soldering iron and solder;
- Nippers;
- A box of matches (empty);
- Insulating tape;
- Two 3V button batteries;
- A pair of large to medium sized stationery pins.
Instructions
Step 1
First, take one wide side of the matchbox and fold it in half (do not press tightly). There will be a battery inside. Cut the cardboard so that the battery on the opposite side of the fold is half hidden.
Step 2
Cut the second side of the folded side of the matchbox and fold it over. Now if you insert the battery and wrap the cut section of the cardboard inside, the battery will be completely hidden in the cardboard "shell". Wrap the resulting pocket with electrical tape. The battery must be inside at this time, otherwise it may not fit back later.
Step 3
Punch a couple of holes on the bend of the cardboard in opposite sides, and then push the twisted pair wires through them, with the ends previously exposed from the insulation. Fold these tips over the edges of the pocket so that the battery contacts them with opposite poles. Wrap the cardboard pocket containing the battery and wires with several layers of electrical tape for strength, and then wrap it around the clothespin. Solder the LEDs to the ends of the wires.
Step 4
Now you can try the invention. Wait until dark, turn off the lights and attach the clothespins with batteries and diodes in place. The diodes should give an even white light. The position of the clothespins is comfortable, so when typing, you will not shade the keys with your own fingers. You can remove the clothespins from the keyboard at any time and turn off the device by taking out the batteries. And you don't need to drill / disassemble anything.
