"Glasses of the future", "glasses of augmented reality", "smart glasses" - despite the fact that the work on the final version of the new project of Google is still ongoing, it already has several "popular" names.
The brand name of the product is Google Glas. Its presentation took place in April 2012 at a conference in San Francisco. In technical performance, glasses are called frames without glasses, on which the display is attached. It is located just above the right eye, so as not to block the view.
If we talk about an idea, then glasses of the future, in order to save time, should combine communication devices that are already familiar to a person. They should work without distracting the user from his daily work and household movements as much as possible.
First of all, the glasses have the function of connecting to the Internet, which allows their owner to quickly receive the necessary information. This can be the air temperature, a map of the area, the availability of free places on transport, and thousands of other options. At the same time, there is no need to take out mobile devices from pockets and be distracted by manipulating them. The control buttons of the augmented reality glasses are operated by the gaze.
The glasses have a built-in camera that allows you to take videos and photographs, which can immediately be sent to relatives by mail or posted on social networks. Again, the owner of smart glasses does not need to be distracted by a mobile phone to send a voice or written message. The Google X Experimental Lab team is currently working on a voice control function for the device.
It is planned that the terms of the final implementation of the project will be limited to 2013. At the same time, the company hopes to start mass sales of the gadget on Christmas Eve. But the price announced by the head of Google Sergey Brin, at which the product is being sold today, is $ 1,500. It is quite expensive. If we talk about big sales, then it is unlikely that a mass buyer who has all the same tools in a different configuration will want to part with that kind of money. However, the company is confident that in 2013 the price of the product can be increased to $ 500.
