One of the most common access control systems for residential and office premises is the intercom. These devices can be of various designs and levels of complexity. Therefore, it is difficult to single out repair methods that are uniform for all types of intercoms. But there are general principles for identifying and fixing problems.
Instructions
Step 1
In order for the intercom to maintain its operability for a long time without intervention and repair, follow the rules of use set out in the manual for its operation. One of the preventive measures is the regular maintenance of the doorphone, which includes minor routine repairs aimed at preventing critical malfunctions.
Step 2
If, nevertheless, the intercom does not show "signs of life", start with a comprehensive check of the power circuits of the device. Check from the power supply to the connecting wires. If a fault is found in the supply circuits, replace the structural elements and restore the broken contact.
Step 3
A common cause of intercom breakdown is a violation of conductivity between the electronic boards of the device. Having found a broken contact, eliminate the open using soldering. If, during the diagnostics, such a reason as a failure of the microcontroller or central microprocessor is revealed, replace these elements with new ones.
Step 4
If the buttons of the outdoor panel and video monitors (if any) fail, check the logical circuits of the doorphone and the integrity of the connecting loops. In most cases, the problem is solved by replacing the loop or mechanically restoring the mobility of the buttons, which can sink from intense vibration loads.
Step 5
If these measures did not lead to the restoration of the device's functionality, a possible cause of the malfunction may lie in the failure of individual control functions. Accurate diagnostics can be carried out, knowing the features of a particular type of doorphone, since the reasons for refusal when calling a menu item in setup mode, for example, may differ in different types of doorphones.
Step 6
If the intercom does not respond to the magnetic key, the keys do not work, and the signals from the subscriber devices do not pass, check the power circuits and, if necessary, restore the broken contact in them.
Step 7
In intercoms with a video function, the call signal from the corresponding panel sometimes disappears. The reason most often is a malfunction of the video intercom patch panel. To fix the problem, replace the burnt out battery of the outdoor panel. Another reason is the violation of the integrity of the video cable. It is not recommended to eliminate such a malfunction on your own, therefore, you should contact the service department.
