The first information about smart glasses GoogleGlasses - a new project of Google - appeared in early 2012, and already in April at a conference in San Francisco, the head of the company, Sergey Brin, demonstrated the work of their prototype in action.
So far, in appearance, the glasses of the future are a wide frame without glasses with a small display located just above the right eye. They also have a wireless microchip, a built-in video camera, a button for video and photography.
The heads-up display displays a lot of different information in real time: about air temperature, about incoming calls, about the user's geographic location, about the optimal route and much more. Videos and photos taken on the road can be immediately posted on social networks, and your fresh impressions can be shared in video chat. In terms of weight, the device is not heavier than ordinary sunglasses.
It is assumed that the gadget will run on the Android platform and sync with all android devices. The wireless connection is carried out via the WLAN module or via 3G / 4G. Maps, location information will be provided by GPS.
As for the control of the device, the buttons project the display, and it will be enough to look at the button for a few seconds to activate the required function. It is assumed that the glasses can be controlled by voice, as well as from a smartphone.
The technical miracle can already be ordered for $ 1,500, but laboratory work continues. A creative team led by Steve Lee, Babak Parviz and Sebastian Tran is working hard on the functionality of the product. It is not yet clear to specialists why users will want to abandon the usual means of communication for the sake of glasses, which, moreover, cost a lot of money.
To conquer the mass market today, a gadget needs to literally change the life of a modern person, moreover, to do it at a reasonable price. At the presentation, Sergei Brin said that by 2014, the mass sale of "smart glasses" will become much cheaper.
