You won't surprise anyone with navigation devices in a modern car. Drivers today can choose a navigator for every taste. However, the device itself is useless if the preinstalled navigation maps are outdated or do not have data on the terrain needed by the driver.
Necessary
- - navigator;
- - navigation software;
- - maps for full navigation;
- - a computer with Internet access.
Instructions
Step 1
Turn on your navigator. Wait for it to complete the required utility download and locate satellites. This process, when first turned on, can take a long time and also depends on the location of the machine. To speed up the acquisition of GPS coordinates, try not to move until you hear a signal that the navigator is ready for use. In addition, it is advisable to start working with the navigator in a relatively open area so that there is no shielding material around and above the machine, such as concrete, for example.
Step 2
After the navigator has received the coordinates of the location, test the pre-installed maps. To do this, using the navigator, try to find a relatively new section of the road. So, for St. Petersburg, such a test is carried out on the ring road under construction. If the navigator "knows" about the road that appeared a month or two ago, then his maps are updated. If, instead of the tested road section, the device displays outdated information, the maps must be updated to the latest release version for the required region.
Step 3
To update the pre-installed card devices, go online and look at the manufacturer's website. After completing the registration process, download the required map updates for your region. Delete all old files from the navigator along with the main map file. Pay attention to the manufacturer's instructions, which are usually posted on the site. Be careful not to accidentally delete the activation key! Place the downloaded map file on your device and follow the instructions of the navigator to unpack and activate the product.
Step 4
When downloading navigation maps to the device, you can also use their unofficial counterparts. These are legal maps that are developed by cartography enthusiasts, for whom this is not a profession, but a hobby. Among the drivers, such cards are called "folk".
