Instructions

Step 1

To copy the phone book to your computer, you need special software that allows you to connect to the phone. Today you can find universal programs suitable for many models of devices from different manufacturers. However, there is no single generally accepted program, since, for example, different operating systems are installed in different smartphones. Nevertheless, PC Suite and ActiveSync are the most popular programs of this kind, which allow not only copying the phone book, but also acting as a conductor displaying all the contents of the phone's memory in the form of files and folders. The latter, starting with Windows Vista, became known as "Windows Mobile Device Center".

Step 2

Determine which operating system is installed on your device. The choice of program for connecting to a computer will depend on this:

• For Symbian OS - you need PC Suite;

• For Windows Mobile OS - Windows Mobile Device Center (ActiveSync);

• For Android OS - Android-Sync or MOBILedit (the latter, by the way, claims to be some kind of universal solution suitable for devices with different OS);

• For an ordinary mobile phone - a special program for phones of a specific manufacturer.

Step 3

How to copy a phone book to a computer and save it in case of loss, we will show below using the example of PC Suite and a Nokia phone. Connect your phone via a special cable and run the program.

Step 4

In the program menu, select the "Backup" command. The Nokia Content Copier window will open, in which also select "Backup". Next, put a tick in front of the data that you are going to save, in particular, select "Contacts" (if you wish, specify other data).

Step 5

Select the storage location for the backup data file and click "Next". Do not disconnect or use the phone during the operation. When the copy is complete, your contacts will be saved to your computer. Later, if necessary, you can copy the phone book back to the device.
