A satellite dish makes it possible not only to watch TV broadcasts in excellent digital quality, but also the ability to use satellite Internet, telephone in places where there are no ordinary cable lines. It is usually installed by specialists, but you can easily do it yourself.

Necessary

Satellite dish, assembly instructions, tuner, TV, DISEqC, hammer drill, anchor bolts, compass

Instructions

Step 1

Choose a place to install a satellite dish. This requires an open area from the point of installation on the satellite. All known artificial satellites are located from the southwest to the southeast.

The satellites are located highest above the horizon, which are located directly to the south. Any obstruction (trees, houses, power lines) on the line that connects the antenna to the satellite can interfere with good signal reception. The antenna should be in an easily accessible place, this is especially important for its adjustment.

Step 2

Install the bracket. Use a hammer drill to drill brick or concrete walls. In a concrete or brick (silicate) wall, install the bracket on special metal anchor bolts, in a wall made of porous facing brick or red, anchor bolts with plastic fillers should be used.

Step 3

Assemble a satellite dish. To do this, use the instructions. During assembly, you should carefully handle the antenna mirror, avoid accidental mechanical damage that can affect the geometry of the mirror. Check all fasteners for tightness after assembly.

Step 4

Install a multifeed, two additional mounts for converters: from the bottom left to the satellite "Amos", in the center to "Sirius" and from the top right to the "Hot Bird". The result is an "imaginary arc" that copies the position of the corresponding satellites in orbit.

Connect the cable to the connector using F-connectors, which are mounted on the cable without soldering:

1. Strip 1, 2 cm of the top layer at the end of the PVC cable.

2. Thread the shielded braid along with the foil in the opposite direction.

3. Cut off the inner filler so that about 3 mm remains.

4. Screw the F-connector tightly onto the cable until the inner filler emerges from the bottom of the connector. Bite off the central core so that it protrudes 2-3 mm beyond the edge of the connector.

Remember which of the wires is suitable for the converters, which are respectively connected to the outputs of the DISEqC switch: Amos - port "1" or port "A"; Sirius port "2" or "B" respectively; Hot Bird - port "3" or "C".

Step 5

Correct setting of the satellite dish. Tighten the screws so that it is possible to move the antenna left and right and up and down with a little effort, but without applying force, the antenna should be stationary. Start scanning the sky around your chosen point.

Tuning is done using a device or a tuner and a TV. Set the DISEqC switch in the tuner in the same way as the converter was connected to the DISEqC switch. Connect the DISEqC switch to the “LNB IN” input of the tuner. Select any channel from the Sirius satellite on the tuner, usually all channels for the dish are already "stitched" in it. Find the scale for adjusting the signal level in the tuner menu.
