Instructions
Step 1
Connect your Wi-Fi router to an AC power outlet. Turn on your computer and prepare the data required to connect to the Internet.
Step 2
Connect one end of the patch cord to the network card of your computer or laptop, and the other to the WAN connector of the Wi-Fi router. Launch your internet browser. Enter 192.168.0.1 in its url field and press Enter.
Step 3
After opening the window for entering the router settings menu, enter the word admin in both fields and press the Enter key. Now go to the Internet Connection Setup menu and configure the settings for Internet access.
Step 4
Select the type of protocol you want, such as PPtP or L2TP. Fill in the Login and Password fields. Check the boxes next to Firewall, DHCP and NAT. Save your internet connection parameters. Reboot your Wi-Fi router.
Step 5
Check if your internet connection is working. To do this, reset the parameters of the network card connected to the router. Wait for the definition of the new local network settings, launch the browser and visit an arbitrary website.
Step 6
Now repeat the procedure for logging into the web interface of the Wi-Fi router. Open the Wireless Connection Setup menu and configure the settings for the wireless access point. In this case, you must specify the parameters with which your mobile devices work. Pay special attention to the security protocol (WEP, WPA, WPA2). Use a strong password to prevent unwanted connections to your router.
Step 7
Save your Wi-Fi network settings. Reboot your router by unplugging it from the AC power. Disconnect the patch cord from your laptop or computer. Activate the search for wireless networks. Connect to your Wi-Fi hotspot. Check its performance.
