Instructions

Step 1

If you decide to build an XGA projector yourself, do not spend large sums on buying a rarity. For comparison, you just need to calculate all the benefits of assembling this device at home. In particular, VGA (640x480) or SVGA (800x600) projectors allow you to get 480 and 300 thousand pixels, respectively. Build an XGA projector yourself and get 800K pixels. If we compare the cost of the finished device and its price on the world market, then these figures are $ 300 and $ 1,500.

Step 2

Get started with a backlit LCD. You don't have to buy the latest model. Try to find an old screen that costs less than $ 100. Buy an LCD with a diameter not exceeding 14-15 inches.

Step 3

Also get a projection machine, the average cost of which is around $ 50. Various companies are engaged in their production: Elmo and 3M, WolfVision and Liesegang, etc. Pay close attention to the brightness of the lamp. We must proceed from the following statistics: the power indicated on the box of 400 watts in fact turns into 3500 ANSI lumens. In this case, you can completely forget about the appearance of the device.

Step 4

Choose a device of medium power, because too high a reading may result in a lot of heat generation, which the LCD panel cannot handle. The latter needs cooling from time to time.

Step 5

So, you can start assembling the projector:

- remove the LCD panel from the monitor;

- remove all cables so that you can get rid of the inverter board. For convenience, provide all the wires with signed labels to help you keep them together and not get tangled;

- place a small spacer frame under the panel (you can use foam);

- fix the panel so that it does not slide over the surface;

- connect cables to inverter and controller;

- place a small fan next to it that will cool the panel.

Your XGA projector is ready.
