A television antenna is not always a technically complex design. If the reception is carried out at a short distance from the TV center, it is not necessary to purchase a ready-made antenna. Homemade will do.
Instructions
Step 1
Take a piece of RK-75 or RG-59 coaxial cable. It has a characteristic impedance of 75 ohms, which is exactly what the TV channel selector is designed for. A cable like RK-50 or RG-58 will not work because it has a characteristic impedance of 50 ohms. When applied, the image can be noticeably doubled, especially if it is of considerable length.
Step 2
Attach a plug to one end of the cable. It is best to use a connector that does not require soldering, even if you are very good at soldering. When heated, the insulation of the central core softens, which can cause a short circuit. It is not dangerous, but it will render the antenna unusable. Connect the central core of the cable to the male electrode of the plug, and the braid to the ring electrode.
Step 3
Make a ring out of the wire with a break at a certain point on the circle. It should have a diameter of about half a meter for meter waves and about 0.1 m for decimeter waves. Connect the opposite side of the cable to the break in the ring. Attach one end of the wire to the central core of the cable, the other to the braid. Insulate connections well.
Step 4
If the TV has separate inputs for the MV and UHF bands, make two such antennas designed to work in the corresponding ranges.
Step 5
Connect the antenna (or two antennas) to the turned off TV. Turn it on. Then select the positions of the ring (or rings) that ensure consistent reception of the channels. In some cases, it is necessary to change the position of the antennas when switching from channel to channel.
Step 6
If the TV is transported from a place where there is a collective antenna to a place where it is absent, immediately after connecting homemade antennas, reconfigure the device from the cable to the terrestrial channel grid. Never expose such antennas outside the premises, where they can be exposed to rainfall and atmospheric electricity. The latter is dangerous not only for the TV, but also for the user.
