There are many brands of ready-made subwoofers on the market in different price categories. They are both active and passive. Powered speakers are a simple option, but they have a minimum of customization due to the lack of amplifier selection. Passive subwoofers are simpler in design and therefore in manufacturing.
It is necessary
Woofer, thick plywood, electric jigsaw, screws, silicone sealant, drills, screwdriver, speaker wires for subwoofer, carpet, carpet glue
Instructions
Step 1
Download the program for calculating the dimensions of the subwoofer enclosure. Use a JBL speaker shop or similar. Take the volume of the case indicated by the speaker manufacturer or search on the net.
Step 2
Decide on the shape of your speaker system. Using the program, calculate the indicators of the walls of the subwoofer taking into account the volume occupied by the speaker.
Step 3
Take a pencil and draw the resulting layout of the walls of the box on a sheet of plywood. Using a jigsaw, carefully cut out the sides of the subwoofer and the speaker seat. On the side wall, make a hole for the wires, if necessary for the bass reflex. Label all blanks.
Step 4
Check if the parts match. Assemble the box with a few screws. If everything is in order, drill every 5 cm of the places for the screws.
Step 5
Smear all mating surfaces and let dry slightly. Twist the box along the drilled holes, coat the excess sealant at the contact points along the seam. Use a sealant to lubricate the inside of the enclosure.
Step 6
After the sealant has hardened, check the volume and tightness of the housing by filling it with water. If a leak occurs, fix it with a sealant.
Step 7
Cut the carpet with a margin to tighten the body. Apply glue to the surface of the subwoofer and attach the material. Iron it well. At the joints, overlap the material and draw a straight line with a knife in the middle. Remove the clippings.
