You bought a 3G modem from Megafon and can't figure out how to connect it? This is fixable if you have a USB interface on your computer or laptop, the operating system is not lower than Windows 2000 SP4, and the screen resolution of the monitor is not less than 800 × 600 pixels.
Instructions
Step 1
Turn on your computer. If similar programs from other operators have already been installed on your computer, remove them before connecting the 3G modem from Megafon. Go to "Control Panel", select "Programs and Features" (or "Add / Remove Programs"). In the list that appears, find the program for the modem from another operator, select it and click "Remove". Do not forget to restart your computer after uninstalling.
Step 2
Disable the anti-virus program during installation, as some of them may recognize the modem software as potentially dangerous, which will subsequently lead to incorrect installation of the program.
Step 3
Remove the cap from the USB modem and connect it to an available USB port. Your OS should detect the modem as a new device (USB storage medium) and run a program that installs and configures the modem. If the computer does not recognize the device, remove it from the USB port and insert it again.
Step 4
If the installation program did not start, go to "My Computer", select a device from the list and run the Autorun.exe file from its root directory.
Step 5
If you have Vista or Windows 7 installed on your computer, the first time you connect, you will be prompted: "Do you want to allow this program to make changes to the computer?" Click Yes. If you refuse, then when you try to connect again, autorun will no longer appear, and you will have to install the modem manually.
Step 6
Please note: for Windows 7, you may need to install patches that are already in the modem's directory. After installing the program, download the archive. After unpacking it, find and run the Huawei USB Modem Win7 Hotfix_0004.exe file. Confirm the license agreement and install the patch.
Step 7
If after all the actions that you have performed, you cannot connect to the 3G network, contact the Megafon office to solve the connection problem.
