Reversing cars, trucks or SUVs can be a very dangerous task. With a rearview mirror with a monitor, you can reduce the likelihood of an accident or accident.
The principle of operation of a rear-view mirror with a monitor
Even novice drivers are well aware of how important a rearview mirror is in a car. Without it, it is impossible to park and perform other maneuvers in reverse (and not only), since it will be difficult for the driver to assess the situation behind the car. Therefore, it is not at all surprising that manufacturers are constantly trying to come up with some new functional mechanism and change the principle of operation of this device. It is thanks to their labors, as well as the rapid development of technology, that rear-view mirrors with a monitor, parktronic or video recorder appeared.
A rear-view mirror with a monitor fits perfectly into the interior of the car, provides a good overview and convenient reverse parking, and also provides a comfortable pastime thanks to some additional functions (Bluetooth or navigator).
The principle of operation of such a device is that a display (one or more) is built into the mirror, which shows the image from the camera. For example, a camera that is supposed to take pictures of the road from the front can be attached to the back of the mirror. Thus, it will not take up extra space (the camera will not even be visible) and will take over the functions of a DVR.
The reversing camera can, for example, be inserted into a pre-drilled hole in the decorative trim of the boot lid.
Connecting a rearview mirror with a monitor
To connect the rear-view mirrors with a monitor, you may need the following signals: + 12V power from the battery, + 12V power from the ignition circuit, + 12V signal when reverse is engaged.
It is necessary to choose the method of connecting the camera based on the situation. For example, if you want the front view camera to work continuously, it should be connected to the ignition circuit. And as soon as the car starts up, the camera will automatically turn on.
And the rear view camera can be connected in such a way that it turns on when the car moves backward. While driving forward, the camera image will not be transmitted, and you can use this device in the same way as a standard one.
Also, some rear-view mirrors are equipped with such a useful function as auto-dimming. When a car is driving behind in the dark, the mirror will fix the light from the headlights and turn on auto-dimming. Thus, the glare of the headlights will no longer interfere with the driver, and it will be much easier to follow the situation through the rear-view mirror.
