Lawn grass requires periodic mowing. Real masters prefer homemade mowers, not Chinese-made units. This is partly due to the large number of plastic parts in imported models that cannot withstand uneven terrain. At the same time, manual models of scythes that run on gasoline or a battery are also not successful. A stable scythe on four wheels is much more comfortable.

Instructions

Step 1

Prepare four wheels from an old stroller or a one-piece chassis. Decide on the working width, because the power of the electric motor depends on it. If the working width is 0.5 meters, then an electric motor of 900 W-1, 2 kW, providing 1500 rpm, will suit you. 3000 rpm requires a 600-800 W motor. In the absence of gearboxes, torque plays a leading role.

Step 2

Cut off all unnecessary from the stroller, leave only the chassis. Weld to the cross bars, which are the axles of the wheels, two pieces of pipe cut from a rectangular profile. Maintain a distance between them so that they line up with the mountings of your electric motor. An end-mounted electric motor has the advantage. But if you come across a side mount, then weld two vertical corners to the profiles, which have a shelf of 40 mm, in order to install an electric motor on them. Weld the pipes with corners in such a way that the engine shaft is located in the center of the chassis, and its end is at a distance of about 7 cm from the ground. Determine the distance by the estimated height of the grass after cutting.

Step 3

Make a protective cover out of sheet steel with a thickness of 1.2 mm. Draw a circle with a compass with a diameter of 53 cm, cut it out. Make a hole in the center that is 4 mm larger than the motor shaft. The side of the casing is 5 cm from the same steel. Weld the casing to the pipes so that the flange overlaps the end of the motor shaft by 2.5 cm.

Step 4

Make a knife from a disc with a diameter of 38 cm, cut from steel with a sheet thickness of 2.5-3 mm. In the center, drill a hole with the same diameter as the motor shaft, and along the edges make two more symmetrical holes at a distance of 2 cm from the edge of the disc. This is where the cutting parts are attached. Slide the disc onto the motor shaft so that the end of the shaft is flush with the disc. Weld, checking by rotating the disc, so that no beating occurs.

Step 5

Make the cutting parts from alloy steel, you can use a hand saw blade. Their shape does not matter, they are 9 cm long and 3 cm wide. Step back 1 cm from the edge, weld a hole on M6 - there will be fasteners to the disk. Fasten to the disc with M6 bolts without tightening, but using additional nuts. Your task is to keep the knife from dangling, but turning. On impact, the knife does not break and returns to the cutting position due to centrifugal force.

Balance the disc.
