Too dry air can cause a decrease in immunity, exacerbation of diseases of the respiratory system and constant headaches. Of course, you can hang wet rags on the batteries or bring in fish (the evaporating water from the aquarium will humidify the air). But isn't it easier to buy a humidifier?

For many, it became very necessary to purchase humidifiers for home or work premises. They not only increase humidity, but also disinfect the air. Low humidity levels can be recognized by signs such as electrostatic stress, dry mouth, soreness when wearing contact lenses, and nosebleeds. In the presence of such inconveniences, the humidifier saves. Humidifiers differ mainly according to the principle of operation.

In winter, due to heating, the air humidity in modern apartments in high-rise buildings can be as low as 20%.

There are only three types of humidifiers: mechanical (so-called traditional), ultrasonic and steam.

Moisturizing from ultrasound

Ultrasonic humidifiers atomize the smallest particles of moisture due to the work of ultrasound (as the name implies). A gold or silver membrane vibrates to create a kind of fog. By adjusting the intensity of the device, you can create a certain level of air humidity, for example, 60%. The impressive power of the device allows you to use it both at home and in offices.

Evaporative humidification

A mechanical humidifier consists of an evaporating element (filter paper or fan) and a water tank. Its principle of operation is based on natural evaporation. Such a device is able to clean the air from dust and impurities. This humidifier is reliable due to the simplicity of its design and has a low price, but it has a number of disadvantages. It does not forcibly saturate the air, which means that the humidity level is limited to sixty percent. Also, a traditional humidifier can make noise during operation, which means that it is inconvenient to use it at night.

The evaporative filter in humidifiers must be changed every season.

Boil moisturizing

A steam humidifier works like a kettle. Electrodes immersed in water heat the water, and it begins to evaporate intensively. At the outlet, the steam temperature is relatively low. After boiling off all the water, the device turns off automatically. These humidifiers are often equipped with inhalation nozzles, which allows them to be used for medical purposes. In addition, prolonged boiling, as you know, kills pathogens, and therefore disinfects. Steam humidifiers consume a significant amount of electricity and cannot maintain an accurate humidity level. However, these humidifiers are ideal for use in large rooms and offices as they can handle large volumes of air in a short time.
