A thermal bag or refrigerator for a car is not always affordable for those who are fond of tourism. However, you can make a cooler bag, indispensable for hiking and traveling in the summer season, and do it yourself.
Instructions
Step 1
A cooler bag is, in fact, an ordinary bag with a heater sewn inside, which does not allow heat from the outside or cold from the inside.
Step 2
Buy insulation materials at the market or building materials store. Foamed polyethylene covered with foil is ideal for these purposes. Such material is usually used as a heater for central heating batteries and saves up to 30% of heat in winter. It is better to buy a thicker insulation (about 10 millimeters), at least 1.5 m wide (to be enough for a bag of any size, depending on your needs on the road).
Step 3
Buy enough tape and a regular duffel bag to hold the insulation in place. However, an old bag will do for the first experiment.
Step 4
Cut out a cross from the fabric of the insulation (like those from which ordinary boxes are glued). Calculate the size of the cross so that after cutting and gluing this kind of "box" can be freely inserted into the bag. The patterns should be about 5-7 centimeters less than the actual dimensions of the bag on all sides of the material.
Step 5
The central square of the pattern will be the bottom of the "refrigerator", the side ones - its walls, the rest - the lid. Place the insulation in the bag, the foil should be inside.
Step 6
Take scotch tape and connect all sides of the bag with insulation, gluing both inside and out. Do not spare scotch tape for structural reliability. The walls of the bag should fit as tightly as possible to the insulation for a stable thermal effect.
