The refrigerator is one of the most important household appliances, and proper care of it is designed to keep the equipment in good condition and keep the food fresh. Here are some tips for cleaning your fridge or freezer.
Improper care of the refrigerator can lead to breakdown of this necessary unit, so it is worthwhile to study the instructions written by the manufacturer for users and the advice of the developers. The simplest and most common advice from refrigerator and freezer manufacturers is as follows:
- Do not keep food in the freezer or in the refrigerator open, without packaging.
- The refrigerator should be washed at least twice a year and regularly defrosted (once a month), cleaned, and inventory of products.
- Start washing on the outside, then work on the inside. Use natural products that don't foam. The simplest and cheapest remedy is soda with a little water or vinegar diluted with water. It should be noted that only non-abrasive products can be used!
- Tip: While you are washing the refrigerator, put all the food in the thermal bag. So there is less chance that they will deteriorate in the heat.
- For good cleaning, remove all removable parts (shelves, trays) and rinse them separately. They can be cleaned with whatever detergent you normally use for dishwashing (remember to rinse it off well). After the shelves are washed, rinse the inside of the refrigerator and wipe it dry.
- Sealing gum should also be rinsed and then dried thoroughly.
- Before cleaning the freezer, unplug it and keep it open to melt the ice. The largest pieces of ice can be removed with a plastic spatula. But in no case should you use metal objects for this!
- Before a long vacation, the refrigerator must be washed and left unopened (if no food is left in it).
