Functioning principle

ADSL technology is based on the transformation of the signal going through the subscriber telephone line by multiplexing the data transmission frequencies used in the network. The connection to the Internet channel is carried out via an already installed telephone cable.

The technology itself is based on the fact that the frequency of the human voice does not exceed the frequency of 3.4 kHz. Thus, a signal exceeding 4 kHz is not used to build a conventional telephone line. Nevertheless, the bandwidth of the wire allows data to be transmitted at higher frequencies, which is what ADSL uses. To transmit data over the channel, the frequency signal is compressed by using additional equipment. A wave frequency of about 30 kHz in the wire is used to transmit a pulsed signal, i.e. data required to download information on the Internet.
