Don't rush to change your MP3 player that has stopped turning on. Many pocket player malfunctions are reversible and can be repaired at home. After that, the device will probably serve you for a long time.

Instructions

Step 1

Disconnect the player from the computer, if necessary, carry out the safe removal procedure provided in your OS. Unplug the earbuds, or if you have a removable battery and memory card, separate them.

Step 2

Disassemble the player. To do this, use screwdrivers designed for repairing mobile phones. If there are hidden screws, find them in the battery compartment, as well as under stickers, decorative elements. Please note that damage to them will void the right to warranty repairs. If necessary, carefully disengage the latches.

Step 3

If there is no removable battery, it is inside the case. Disconnect the battery cable connected by the connector, and solder the soldered one, avoiding short circuits. In both cases, sketch the polarity of the connection of the conductors.

Step 4

Examine the board for white or green patches. If present, remove it with pure alcohol. Do not allow it to enter the display, otherwise it will cause unsightly stains. Do not use solvents, water, alcoholic beverages, etc. Let the alcohol dry completely.

Step 5

Using a multimeter (be sure to digital, so that the measuring current is limited) ring all the buttons. Perhaps one of them is out of order and is now permanently closed. Also make sure all buttons are closed when pressed, especially the power button. Replace defective buttons.

Step 6

If the player has stopped charging from USB, but data is being transferred, or vice versa, check the connector, the cable from the board to the connector (if any) and the cord. Eliminate breaks in them. Do not mix up the conductors. In some players, the USB port is initially used only for data transfer or, less often, only for charging.

Step 7

Reconnect the built-in battery, if any, observing the polarity and avoiding short circuits. Reassemble the player in reverse order. If you have a removable battery and memory card, replace them. Check the player's operation in all modes, the presence of a reaction to pressing all buttons, charging and data transfer when connected to a computer.
