Instructions
Step 1
Place a white sheet of paper in the field of view of the camcorder (it is better to use glossy rather than matte paper for a clear image). Take an ordinary ballpoint pen and stick a piece of bright green sticker on its tip (in order for the camera to consistently recognize the movements of the pen, the color tracked by the webcam should be strikingly different from the background color of the picture).
Step 2
Download and install the required tablet customization software (such as Genius WinTab or Bentley Digitizer Tablet Interface) from the Internet. With its help, the movement of the ballpoint pen on the sheet will be synchronized with the computer mouse cursor.
Step 3
For stability of recognition, place a green LED on the end of the handle so that the recognition is independent of the light intensity. Use a microswitch from an old mouse as a pressure sensor.
Step 4
Use a laser pointer or keychain instead of a homemade ballpoint pen stylus. They can paint on the wall. The camera can also be replaced with any digital camera. You just need to connect it to the video input of the card and that's it. But this option is only suitable for entertainment, because it is impossible to draw anything worthy and complicated in this way.
Step 5
Remember that such a virtual tablet is just a toy, and will never be able to compare with full-fledged professional tablets due to the low resolution and signal delay that will occur during digitization. So this version of the virtual tablet is suitable for those who want to "play" or for people who are going to connect their lives with computer graphics or modeling.
