According to statistics, the mobile network is replaced every 10 years. If 4G began to enter the life of subscribers in 2011, then an improved network of high-speed data transmission of the new 5th generation can be expected in a few years.

5G network development abroad

In the USA and Russia, experts are already testing a new generation 5G network (five Ji). The mobile network of the new standard will allow users to experience faster speeds than today's ultra-fast 4G. Experts do not exclude the emergence of a 5G network by the end of this decade, however, for this, basic and important steps must be overcome to improve the network and all equipment, including the emergence of a new generation of smartphones with support for ultra-fast data transfer.

It is worth noting that such developed Asian countries in the field of digital technologies and equipment as South Korea, Japan and China have already managed to implement 5G wireless networks for their users.

According to Qualcomm, the first 5G phones will be released in the next 2 years by ASUS, HTC, HMD Global (Nokia), Oppo, Sharp, Sony, Vivo, Xiaomi, ZTE, Wingtech and LG.

When the 5G network appears in Russia

As for Russia, the Digital Economy program of the Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications of May 3, 2017 has already been developed, according to which new wireless technologies will be launched in 2020, but so far only in megalopolises with a population exceeding 1 million people. By 2025, the list of cities will increase to 15.

According to some reports, in connection with the upcoming major sporting events of the FIFA World Cup, Megafon and MTS want to carry out the first commercial implementations of the 5G network this year.

Despite test developments, 5G technology has not yet been standardized. The International Telecommunication Union in June 2015 developed a plan for the development of new technologies "IMT-2020" and will soon determine what network architecture and frequency bands will be needed. Accordingly, today it is not yet known which bands will be allocated for Russia. At the same time, all leading domestic telecom operators Megafon, MTS, Beeline and Tele2 are already preparing for the emergence of 5G and are building experimental zones to test the new standard.

The price of wireless devices and modems for 5G access is still unknown.

According to telecom operators, certification of the 5th generation network is expected only closer to 2020, but large-scale technical actions are already underway to increase the capacity of the existing network so that they are ready to transmit huge volumes of traffic.

According to forecasts of other analysts, the date of the appearance of high-speed 5G Internet in Russia can be expected not in 2020, but in 2-3 years after the manufacturers of 5G equipment will master the markets of the USA, Europe and Asia, i.e. in 2022 or 2023.

What is the speed of the 5G network

The difference between 4G and 5G is as follows: if today the transmission speed is calculated in megabits, then in the near future we will talk about gigabits. The new 5G communication standard will provide its subscribers with data transmission speeds of up to 20-30 Gbps, which is more than 100 times faster than the speed of modern networks. This means that it will take only a few seconds to send a large file or download a movie in high quality.

Recently, high-speed 5G Internet was tested in Sweden, according to research results, the maximum data transfer rate was 15 Gbps, which is almost 40 times faster than modern wireless networks.

The emergence of a new generation network will affect the development of science and technology, in particular, the autopilot in cars, where the instantaneous response time of the network is important, will become one step closer to reality. This also applies to such new areas as telemedicine - remote operation in real time.
