What is Netflix and what are its features?
At the moment, Netflix is a platform that works almost all over the world, designed for streaming broadcasting of visual content: feature and documentary films, TV series, shows, etc. The fundamental difference from other similar services and, moreover, from television broadcasting, is that here a serial product, which includes many episodes, is released by the service at once, that is, not according to a certain schedule, for example, one episode once a week, but block - all season at once. Some of the shows produced on Netflix are purchased product, others are self-produced.
In addition to the approach to the release of various shows, the creators of the service rethought and fundamentally changed the approach to assessing the audience: the traditional approach is to divide the viewer into categories by gender, age, geographic and other criteria, while Netflix has introduced a cluster system focused on collecting information about individual taste preferences of consumers. and their corresponding distribution into groups (clusters) by interests, films and TV series watched, which provides a more accurate and subject-oriented system of recommendations. At the same time, this allows service workers to collect extremely reliable information about the viewer, his interests and preferences: focusing on age categories creates an idea of the model of the consumer's figure, which may not completely coincide with reality.
So, assuming a girl between the ages of 12 and 17 as its viewer, in practice the producer may face the fact that housewives or teenage boys are the real person interested in his show. It also gives the service an understanding that the consumer may be equally interested in conventionally antonymic genres: melodrama and thriller, animation and body horror, so one person can enter several clusters at once.
Thus, Netflix gets the most detailed and comprehensive idea of the person interested in the release of a particular series, and the lower the likelihood that the service will offer content that a particular user will not be interested in as a recommendation.
Where and how to watch?
You can connect to the Netflix service from a variety of devices: from a computer or laptop, from a smartphone or tablet, from a PlayStation or Xbox, and from a TV - however, this has its own peculiarities. First of all, the subscription to use the services is carried out on a paid basis, however, there is the possibility of free (trial) use of the account during the first month. It can be activated by registering and entering the bank card details, so if the service does not suit the client, after the trial period expires, it will be necessary to cancel the subscription, otherwise the money will be withdrawn automatically.
Netflix offers its viewer several monthly paid packages that differ in price and, accordingly, in content:
- the first and cheapest one costs eight euros and assumes that the user will not connect to the service while using it in parallel from several devices - it is permissible to use only one;
- the second will cost ten euros: this package assumes a higher image quality and the ability to watch shows from two devices at the same time;
- the most expensive one costs 12 euros: it allows you to connect four devices in parallel and gives a picture in ULTRA HD.
You can use Netflix from smartphones on Android and iOS, but with TVs, the situation is complicated by the fact that in order to connect to the service, it must be equipped with Smart-TV technology.
Netflix on your smartphone
In order to start using Netflix, you need to download the official app from Netflix Inc. from your device store (Google Play or App Store) and install it. The application itself is shareware, that is, you do not need to pay for download and installation, but you will have to pay a certain amount directly for the services provided.
Next, you open Netflix from your smartphone, click "Join free for a month", that is, you agree to a month of free (free) use. Unfortunately, at the moment the service does not imply either registration or its use in Russian. In the next step, go to the second step, where you select one of the three proposed monthly packages, then go through the standard registration stage - specify the e-mail and password that you will use to enter, - select the payment system (here you specify the details of your bank card or system PayPal), check the entered data, confirm your consent and click "Start Membership". After that, you will need to select the format of the device from which you will connect to Netflix, for example, a TV or smartphone, and, if necessary, indicate all users who also want to use this service.
