The modern level of computerization in Russia has already reached the level when not only in the office or in production, but also private users have more than one home computer at their disposal. In the vast majority of cases, a network of several computers shares most of the peripheral devices, such as a scanner or printer. If such a device is configured to work over a network, then it is not difficult to find it from any networked computer.
Instructions
Step 1
Use the Add Printer Wizard if you have not connected this network printer before. In Windows XP, to start it, you need to open the main menu on the "Start" button, go to the "Settings" section and select the "Printers and Faxes" item. In the left pane of the window that opens, select the "Add a printer" task. If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, after opening the main menu, start the Control Panel by clicking on the corresponding item. In the panel, click the "Hardware and Sound" link, and then the "Printers" link. On the toolbar of the window that opens, click the "Add Printer" button.
Step 2
Click on the "Next" button in the first window of the activated printer connection wizard, and in the next window, check the box next to the inscription "A network printer or a printer connected to another computer." This is how this option is labeled in Windows XP, and in later versions of this family it begins with the text "Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer …".
Step 3
If you are using Windows XP, then in the next window of the connection wizard you will be able to either enter the printer's address yourself, or entrust the wizard to search for all printers available locally or over the network. In later versions, this step is skipped, the wizard will compile a list of available printers without your instructions, but a link will be placed above this list that will allow you to manually search for what the connection wizard missed.
Step 4
Select a printer from the list, which after the utility completes will be used by your computer programs as the main printer. Then click the Next button and the wizard will connect the specified printer.
Step 5
If you have previously worked with the printer that you want to find on the network, then double-click the "Network" or "Network Neighborhood" shortcut and in the opened Windows Explorer window find the printer among other network resources. The same can be done by launching Explorer by pressing the win + e key combination - the network environment is present in it along with the local computer and its contents.
