This is quite justified, since they practically do not take up space, and with their help you can transfer and store a lot of various information. Just a couple of years ago, it was very difficult to find a really capacious flash drive. Then manufacturers offered devices with a volume of 1-2 gigabytes. Today, anyone can easily find such a USB flash drive, the volume of which will be 16 or 32 gigabytes. Today more and more people use these devices, and some of them even store all important information on a USB flash drive and work in this way all the time, without copying data to the hard drive. It is worth noting that you should not do this, as you risk losing your information.

Unfortunately, USB sticks, like any other device, can sometimes fail or stop functioning altogether. The declared service life of the manufacturers of such a device is on average 5 years, but it can break even earlier. In fact, the lifespan directly depends on how many times various information was written to and deleted on it (sometimes they say that the lifespan depends on the number of connections to the port). Each flash drive can withstand about 10,000 file rewriting times. By the way, returning to the number of connections, I would like to note that such a judgment is incorrect and even absurd, since it is in no way capable of affecting the device itself. Even after its service life has expired, if desired (using special software), the user will be able to read the information stored on it, but nothing will work to write it down.
There is another opinion that if you write down some information on a USB flash drive and do not use it for a very long time, this can also affect the service life of the drive. In fact, everything is exactly the opposite. The lifespan of the device itself will not change. The only thing that will suffer in this case is the information stored on it. Firstly, the information on the flash drive itself may become outdated and unusable. Secondly, after 10 or 15 years without using the drive, various kinds of errors will appear there, and the user will no longer be able to read some of the files stored on it.
As a result, it turns out that with an average service life declared by the manufacturers themselves of 5 years, it can also decrease, depending on how many times information was recorded on it.
