All TV tuners are divided into two groups: internal and external. Internal tuners plug into a PCI slot located on the motherboard. They are useful if you plan to use the TV tuner frequently. Another distinctive feature is that such a tuner is not suitable for laptops.
Step 2
External TV tuners are versatile equipment. They connect to the USB port of a laptop or system unit. Their installation does not require technical intervention in the structure of the system unit. If necessary, they can be disabled and removed.
Step 3
Let's look at examples of connecting and configuring an external TV tuner. There are equipment of this group, which has its own antenna in the kit. As a rule, this device is only suitable for places with a very high quality TV signal.
Step 4
Buy any TV tuner you like. Please note that some external TV tuners require an AC connection. This can be a big problem if you plan to connect it to your laptop outdoors. Connect it to the USB port of the system unit. Turn on your computer. Install the software bundled with this equipment.
Step 5
Connect an indoor or satellite dish to the dedicated jack on the TV tuner. Open the program you installed earlier. Activate channel search. Wait for this process to complete. Delete unnecessary channels or those whose signal quality does not suit you.
Step 6
Adjust additional image parameters. Usually these are the following settings: brightness, contrast and color gamut. Check the operation of the tuner remote control (if there is one).
Step 7
Save the changed settings. Save the channel list that you have compiled.
