Caller ID on a cell phone is so common that it’s hard to remember the times when you had to pay extra money for its work. However, landline identifiers are still not so common, despite the fact that they appeared much earlier than their mobile counterparts. The problem of how to connect a caller ID does not exist if it is built into the phone. But if you don't want to change the old convenient device, but you need to connect the caller ID prefix, you will have to perform a few simple steps.

Instructions

Step 1

We select the caller ID. First of all, in the office of a fixed telephone operator, we clarify whether this service is available for our phone number. If yes, then we go to the store to choose a prefix. Determinants operate in two different modes; for simplicity, we will call them pulse and tone. Tone identifiers are also called Euro-AON. Depending on the telephone communication channel, we select a suitable caller ID. Operation of Euro-AON is not guaranteed in the pulse mode, as well as vice versa: the pulse detector will not work on tones.

Step 2

We connect the caller ID to the phone. For the caller ID to work, connect it to the telephone socket. Regardless of whether one telephone is connected or several parallel ones, the identifier can be connected to any of them. An additional cable is used for connection, which is usually sold together with a prefix-identifier. The connection should look like this: telephone socket - identifier - telephone. Thus, the two devices are connected in series, and the telephone call signal passes through the caller ID and enters the telephone.

Step 3

We check the correctness of the connection of the identifier. There should be a steady long beep in the handset. If there is no dial tone, we check that the caller ID and cables are correctly connected to the socket in the identifier itself. Sometimes in the caller ID there are several identical jacks that perform different functions, and they can be confused.

Step 4

We write a statement to the telecom operator. This step could be done both before purchasing the identifier, and after connecting it, as we are doing now. The form and sample application for connecting to the Caller ID or Euro-Caller ID service are at the telecom operator. The meaning of the statement is that we ask you to connect the "Caller ID" service to your home phone. The application must be submitted by the person for whom the phone number is registered. After activating the service, a monthly subscription fee will be charged for it.
