Check the flash for compatibility with your camera. It is clear that if you buy a device of the same brand as the camera, there will be no problems. Attach an external flash to your camera. Here it is worth saying that it is worth connecting to your camera, because it is with it that you will continue to work. So if the seller does not allow this, you should doubt his honesty about the chosen device.

Try to photograph a salesperson or other person with a flash that is aimed "head-on". First, photograph at a distance of one meter, then three meters. If in both cases overexposures did not appear, then this is a good flash, and you can safely take it.
Step 4
Check the flash without looking at the indicator. Let it charge for about a minute. Because the ready indicator can start glowing immediately, and there will be only 70-75% of the energy level on the capacitor. Take test shots after the capacitor is fully charged.
Step 5
Take a couple of over-the-ceiling shots. Again, if there are no overexposures in all frames, then the flash is working properly.
Step 6
When purchasing a flash, strictly follow the operating guidelines. Avoid shooting a continuous burst when fired more than 20 times. This can overheat and damage the head. When using the flash, always open the aperture, increase the ISO, take close-up shots whenever possible, and always use freshly charged batteries or fresh batteries.
Step 7
Also, so that the lamp has time to cool down, increase the intervals between shots if possible. If the overheating protection has worked, be sure to take a break for at least 15 minutes. Then the normal flash mode will be restored. If all these requirements are met, your flash will last a long time.
