Camcorders have become a common thing in almost everyone's home. Therefore, everyone now has the opportunity to film their family, friends, holidays, and even try themselves as a director. Accordingly, many people need the ability not only to shoot with a camera, but also to do editing, recording footage from a video camera on a computer.

It is necessary

  • Adobe Premier Pro
  • any video editor
  • iLink 1394 wire
  • videotape with recording

Instructions

Step 1

If your camcorder writes to a videotape, then most likely it is connected to the computer using a special iLink 1394 wire. Check if it has a special port for this. Examine the camera. The port you want must be signed as "DV". In the event that the camera writes to the hard drive, then it is connected to the computer using a USB cable. To do this, the camcorder must have a mini-USB port. Wires for these purposes can be purchased at any store that sells camcorders. Their cost usually does not exceed 300 rubles. You can dump information from cameras that record information on SD cards, hard drives or DVDs by copying them like from a regular flash drive. It takes a little more effort to record video from a miniDV camera.

Step 2

Launch Adobe Premier Pro. When the interface opens, press the "F5" key. The video capture window (Cupture) will open. If you failed to launch this function by pressing the "F5" key, click the "File" tab, in the list of possible further actions that opens, select the "Capture" command.

To prevent the camcorder's battery from being discharged accidentally during video capture, it must be connected to a permanent power source (mains), so turn on the camcorder to the mains by connecting the power supply to it. If you need to capture a little video, and the camcorder has a lot of charge (at least 60 minutes), you can get by with the battery. But experienced video editors, while recording material from a video camera, try not to take risks and connect the camera to the network. After all, if the recording is interrupted, it will have to start from the beginning.

Step 3

Keep the camera off until you have everything ready for recording. Namely: the Adobe Premier Pro program (or any other video editor) is open, the video recording window is launched, the camera is connected to the computer using the iLink 1394 wire, you checked the charge on it, indicated the place on the computer where the video will be recorded … Then you can start recording, and just now turn on the camera and set it to the player mode. It is important to monitor the wiring very carefully, because abrupt disconnection of the iLink 1394 wire from the turned on video camera can not only disrupt video recording, but also spoil the ports on both the camcorder and the computer. Be careful! When you're ready to record, click on the red REC button located at the bottom of the window to record video.
