Recording TV programs directly to your computer can eliminate the need to purchase a digital video recorder. Modern computers are often equipped with video recording software such as Windows Media Center. External TV tuners are also available to help you get things done without any problems.

- - software for video recording;
- - TV tuner;
- - cable splitter (optional).
Instructions
Step 1
Connect the external TV tuner with a cable to one of the free USB ports on your PC. Connect the cable from a signal source such as cable or satellite TV to the TV tuner. A coaxial cable with a tap at the end is also a common connection method. The cable is connected to the tuner with clockwise rotation around the threaded sleeve.
Step 2
Tune the available channels on the external tuner by pressing the Auto-Tune or Scan key in the companion software. Open the video recording application on your computer by double-clicking it. You can choose Windows Media Center, InterVideo, SnapStream, or other software.
Step 3
Set the necessary tuner settings for recording using the control keys or the remote control that is usually supplied with most devices. Press the "Record" button in the program and start recording the broadcast from the TV. Click Stop when the process is complete. Click on the "File" tab and select "Save" to send the recorded video to your hard drive.
