You can browse the web without sitting at your computer right from the couch on the TV screen if you use a video card with composite output or one of the specially designed devices for this.
Instructions
Step 1
Install a video card with composite video output in your computer. Please select a model of this card that does not require installation of drivers. In this case, it will work in any OS, and even the CMOS Setup screen can be displayed on the TV screen.
Step 2
If your TV is equipped with an RCA input jack, the way to connect such a video card to it is obvious. If there is a SCART-type socket in it, apply a signal to pin 20 of this connector, and connect pin 17 to the common wire.
Step 3
Make all connections with the computer and TV turned off. Disconnect the collective antenna from the TV before connecting the computer.
Step 4
Use a mechanically broken Nintendo Wii as a small device for browsing the web on your TV. Sometimes such devices are found at online auctions. Connect it to the router with a cable or via WiFi, and to the TV via its composite video input, as described above. After setting up the connection, download the Internet Channel application on it for free, after which a browser will appear on the set-top box. All that remains is to equip it with a conventional mouse and keyboard with a USB interface.
It is not recommended to use the PlayStation 3 for the same purpose, as it consumes 400 watts of power.
Step 5
The following method of browsing the web on TV is not yet available, but will be available over the next few months. When a miniature Raspberry Pi motherboard hits the market, buy it, build a compact computer based on it, and then connect it to your TV through the composite video input. If the motherboard you purchased is not equipped with an Ethernet adapter, use a USB network card or a WiFi adapter with the same interface to connect it to the router.
Step 6
Finally, if your TV has a built-in Ethernet adapter, you can connect it directly to your router. Please note, however, that not every such device has a browser or the ability to install one. Some of them only provide access to certain network resources, such as YouTube.
