Satellite TV allows you to receive digital quality television signals that are superior to traditional analogue ones. In addition, it can be used anywhere on the planet, as long as there is a coverage area of the required satellite. The satellite dish is capable of not only receiving, but also transmitting digital packets, thus it becomes possible to connect to the global Internet network, regardless of terrestrial transmission lines. The only thing that needs to be done is to catch and tune the signal from the satellite.

How to pick up a satellite signal

It is necessary

  • - Satellite TV receiver;
  • - Satellite Antenna Alignment program;
  • - television;
  • - compass.

Instructions

Step 1

Install a satellite dish on the wall, roof or just in the yard on a pole. Secure it carefully so that the wind cannot move it. Otherwise, the signal will go astray. If the installation will be carried out in a concrete or brick wall, then it is best to use anchor bolts. The antenna bracket must be installed strictly horizontally or vertically, depending on the option.

Step 2

Attach a converter (head) to the end of the plate rod. Take a coaxial cable, strip it, make sure that its shield does not come into contact with the central core. Using the f-connectors, connect it to the converter connector. Fix the other end in the socket of the satellite receiver (or dvb-card (internal or external), or TV).

Step 3

In the first case, it is possible to use satellite Internet services. If a TV receiver is selected, then connect it to the TV. Turn on the latter and set it to the dmv channel, just start the scanner and stop it on the TV picture with the specified device model.

Step 4

Determine the geographic coordinates of the place, latitude and longitude where you are installing the antenna. After that, find out on the website https://www.lyngsat.com/ which satellites you can receive

Step 5

Select one of them, and also write down the technical data of the transponder broadcasting the TV signal, for example, 11760v27500, where 11760 is the frequency in MHz, v is the vertical polarization, h is the horizontal, 27500 is the symbol rate. In addition, there is the Ku, C-band. It is impossible to simultaneously receive signals from all ranges, only separately. Therefore, it is necessary to correctly identify the transponder data.

Step 6

Determine the sector where the required satellite is located. To do this, you should use a compass. Find the direction to the south. Then use the Satellite Antenna Alignment program. Determine in it the degree of the direction to the south, for example, Donetsk region (Ukraine) is located at 37 degrees. v.d. and 48 degrees. east latitude, south corresponds to 36 degrees. Thus, all satellites to the right of this line have less than 36 degrees, for example, 13e, 5e (e - east longitude, "east").

Step 7

Aim the antenna at the desired sector. Let's say you are navigating a Hotbird 13e satellite. Accordingly, set aside the azimuth on the compass to the right of the south direction: 36-13 = 17 degrees. Enter the transponder settings in the satellite receiver in the "Settings" tab.

Step 8

Place the antenna in a vertical position, slightly loosen the mount, but so that it is taut. Scan the sector, i.e. move it slowly left and right, if there is no satellite signal on the TV, then lift it slightly. Do the same operation again until there is a stable signal.

Step 9

Fix the satellite dish in this position and adjust the signal strength with the convector again. Fix it. Scan the entire transponder range from the selected satellite on the TV and save.
