It would seem, why mark the polarity on the speaker of the stereo system? After all, an alternating voltage is supplied to it. However, if there are several acoustic heads in the system, they must be switched on in phase. On the terminals of a particular head, the polarity value at which the diffuser moves in the forward direction is indicated.

It is necessary

  • - pocket flashlight with incandescent lamp;
  • - probes with insulated handles;
  • - indelible marker;
  • - voltmeter.

Instructions

Step 1

To determine the polarity of the speaker, make a probe device. Take a regular pocket torch with an incandescent lamp. Disconnect the switch from it, instead of which you will need to connect two probes. The probes should be with insulated handles, because when the voltage is turned off, a self-induction voltage appears at the terminals of the head.

Step 2

Using a control voltmeter, check the polarity of the probes, then mark the probes accordingly. When the probes are closed, the light should be on.

Step 3

Turn off the amplifier and the entire speaker system in general, unplug the cord from the outlet. Then disconnect the speaker leads from the rest of the system. Next, connect both probes to the head leads, avoiding touching the leads and metal parts of the probes themselves. And look at the diffuser carefully. If it moves outward when connected, and inward when disconnected, then the polarity is correct. If the picture is the opposite, you need to change the polarity of connecting the probes, and then repeat the test.

Step 4

On the head frame, mark the polarity, preferably with an indelible marker, that corresponds to the polarity of the probe connection.

Step 5

Do the same for the rest of your speaker system. And it doesn't matter whether they are connected through the crossover or directly, you need to connect them in phase so that the positive terminals of the heads correspond to the red contact on the back of the speaker itself.

Step 6

Check and modify, if necessary, the second speaker. Check, by closing the cases of the two speakers, whether they are correctly connected to the amplifier. Red marks can be seen on the cable making this connection. In any case, the conductor with the mark must be connected to the red terminal, and the one without the mark to the black terminal.

Step 7

Turn on your stereo and compare the sound it makes now with the sound it made before you intervened.
