You can dial a number on the phone in two modes: tone and pulse. Moreover, pulse dialing was used and is still used in stationary telephones with a disk dial, and in modern telephones, tone is used.

Step 1
By default, the pulse mode is usually used in the landline phone settings. A distinctive feature of this mode is the characteristic crackle in the tube when you press the keys. Moreover, the key with the number 1 corresponds to one crackle, the key 2 - two, and so on. If tone dialing is active, you will hear a beep when you press a button.
Step 2
If you call any service where you need to press certain keys on the phone during a conversation to get to the corresponding menu item, pulse dialing will not work here. To enable tone mode one time, press “*” and the desired key. In this case, the next time you call the autoinformer, the tone mode will be disabled.
Step 3
To switch the device from pulse to tone mode, read the instructions for your phone. So in Siemens Gigaset telephones this can be done by using the following combination: press the call button, then call the function by dialing “10”. A menu will appear in which you need to press button 1.
Step 4
In the case of Voxtel landline telephones, to use the tone mode, press the Programming button and then the * -2-2 key combination. When the beep sounds, press “*”, then the “Program” button. In addition, the DEXT devices on the base have a key for switching between dialing modes.
Step 5
Modern Panasonic telephones have a switch on the base (located on the side). By moving it to the "Tone" position, you turn on the corresponding mode. If you have an older model, go to the phone's menu, find the item with the name "Call programming" and select there "Tone dialing mode". However, it is worth considering that there may not be such an item in the menu (in some cases). In this case, read the instructions for your phone.
