To obtain the maximum speed of receiving or transmitting data, the modem must be correctly connected to the telephone line. If the connection is correct, the relay is activated during the “off-hook” on the computer. This relay is responsible for disconnecting faxes, answering machines, telephones and other devices from the line that create additional load, which leads to interference on the telephone line.

telephone sockets with RJ-11 jacks; - telephone wire or twisted pair; - modem; - nails; - a hammer; - pliers; - knife; - wire cutters
Instructions
Step 1
First, inspect your existing telephone wiring. If it is very old, it is best to remove it using nippers and a knife. Otherwise, it may fail at any time.
Step 2
Next, remove the capacitors (if any) from the telephone sockets using pliers. This is necessary so that the modem can correctly identify incoming calls.
Step 3
Then run the new wiring by gently nailing it into the wall or ceiling with small nails. Instead of ordinary thin wiring, twisted pair can be used, which can significantly improve the quality of signal transmission. Please note that for the correct connection, you need to pull the wire from the door only to the modem, and from the modem directly to the telephone sockets, the number of which you set yourself.
Step 4
Be sure to solder all available connections well. If you do not do this, then after some time they will oxidize and reduce the strength of their connection. It is desirable that there are as few wire connections as possible, and the wires are made of the same metal, since different materials hold soldering much worse than homogeneous ones.
Step 5
After all the preparations, start connecting the modem to the telephone line. First connect the line in to the jack labeled "In" and then the telephone line out to the jack labeled "Out". Be sure to check the modem connection using your computer.
