A mobile phone is a good way to connect to the Internet from a laptop, especially in places with no other connectivity options. But in order to be able to use the Internet in this way, it is necessary to carry out the correct settings.
Instructions
Step 1
Connect your mobile phone to your laptop with a USB cable. Connect one end to the USB port on your phone and the other end to the corresponding port on your laptop. The system will detect the connection of a new device.
Step 2
Install the software that came with your phone to connect it to your computer. To do this, insert the installation disc into the drive and follow the instructions.
Step 3
After installing the application, launch it. This will automatically install drivers for the phone to work as a modem device. If they are not automatically installed, search for them on the disc supplied with your phone. Run the search in automatic mode, or, if you know the specific location of the required driver, specify it manually.
Step 4
Open the menu item in the installed program that is responsible for connecting to the Internet. Select the one to which you are connected from the list of mobile operators. An internet connection with all the necessary parameters will be automatically created. If there is no choice in the program (or there is no suitable option), specify the settings manually. You can get them directly from the operator.
Step 5
If the program does not have a function responsible for accessing the Internet, create a connection yourself. To do this, select "Start" -> "Control Panel" -> "Network and Internet Connection". Select "Create New Connection". In the "Network Connection Type" dialog box, select "Connect to the Internet", then select "Set up a connection manually", and then "Via a regular modem". In the window for selecting a device for connection, check the box for the mobile phone modem. After that, set a name for the connection (any, for example, internet) and the number by which the connection will be made. As a rule, this is * 99 #, or * 99 *** #. If the number does not fit, check with the operator.
