Modern personal computers can be used like conventional televisions. To do this, you need to purchase and connect a special TV tuner. They come in different types: built-in and external.
Necessary
- - TV tuner - 1 piece;
- - fiber optic cable;
- - set-top box - 1 pc.
Instructions
Step 1
A TV tuner is a type of television receiver designed to reproduce a TV signal on a computer monitor. First of all, check if your PC's motherboard has a built-in TV tuner. To do this, visually inspect the back of the processor. The output has a similar form with the "socket" for the antenna on a conventional TV.
Step 2
If there is no built-in TV tuner, you will need to purchase one. If the specifications of your personal computer allow you to install a built-in TV tuner, purchase one. In this way, unnecessary mechanical damage to the device can be avoided. For a PC that lacks the ability to connect the built-in tuner, you can buy an external TV-out and connect it using the USB cable that comes with the kit.
Step 3
Connect the TV tuner to your personal computer. Insert the software disc into the drive. The operating system will automatically detect new hardware and prompt you to install drivers. Press the button to confirm the installation. After completing this operation, restart your computer for the changes to take effect.
Step 4
There are two types of connection between the TV signal source and the computer: directly through a TV tuner or through a set-top box. The set-top box allows you to record TV programs and pause a live program and watch it later. Plug the infrared transmitter into a free USB port on your computer and into the port on the set-top box. Next, an automatic connection will be established. Reboot your computer. If you connect the cable directly, just plug the cable into the TV tuner.
Step 5
Go to Start and click Run. Enter the command "TV signal settings" in the dialog box that appears. Tune channels and save changes. Happy viewing.
