You will need to remove the back cover from your HP Mini laptop not only for self-replacement of the RAM module, hard drive and other components. A sticker located on the case under the cover shows the license number of the Windows operating system installed on your computer when it was sold, which will allow you to restore it. And do not let the lack of fastening screws on the HP Mini case confuse you - the fact of the matter is that you can remove the cover from the laptop without using screwdrivers.
Instructions
Step 1
Exit all programs and turn off the working laptop. If your HP Mini did not work anyway, and you intend to remove the back cover to replace any module, it is better to make sure that the computer is turned off and not in hibernation mode. To do this, slide the switch button, start Windows and turn off the laptop using the OS.
Step 2
Disconnect all external devices from the computer - modems, USB cables, etc., unplug the power cord. Close the screen and turn the laptop upside down with the battery facing you.
Step 3
Slide the battery retaining clip on the right until the red padlock is visible. Slide and hold the second clip while pulling the battery forward and completely out of the laptop chassis.
Step 4
Locate the latch inside the laptop. It is usually orange in color. Slide it all the way with one hand. With your other hand, push the edge of the cover up at the same time. Carefully, avoiding sudden movements, remove the back cover from the case.
Step 5
Locate the Windows license number sticker inside the case. For detailed instructions on how to replace a memory module and hard drive, see your HP Mini user manual. Discharge any static electricity from your hands before handling these parts. This can be done simply by touching the radiator.
Step 6
Replace the cover after you are done inside the case. Make sure that all the grooves in the cover are in place. Press down gently on the edge of the back cover so that there are no gaps in the laptop case.
Step 7
Replace the laptop battery. Secure it with clamps. If required, connect external devices and power cord to the computer. Turn on your laptop.
