Speaker cables are used to connect musical equipment and instruments. At the heart of each cable is a conductor, on which the quality of sound transmission depends, which in turn affects its reproduction. When choosing a product, you must be guided by some important parameters.
Instructions
Step 1
The main element of the cable is the center conductor, through which the musical instruments receive the signal. A high-quality wire is able to provide sound transmission without any interference. In the highest quality products, the element is made from highly purified oxygen-free copper, which is able to provide high-quality sound without distorting it.
Step 2
When choosing a product, the manufacturing quality of the connector that connects to the audio output is also important. It is best to have a gold or silver plated plug. These metals provide the highest quality sound transmission through the cable to the device. When buying, pay attention to the insulation - the better it is made, the better the wire is made.
Step 3
The quality of the resulting sound also depends on the length of the product - the smaller it is, the less inductance is observed, which reduces the load on the amplifier and provides a minimum impact on the sound. Along the entire length of the wire, marking should also be applied - it is desirable that it be on each meter of the product and contain the designation of the section and the name of the manufacturer.
Step 4
The best insulation for a cable is low density Teflon. There are also polypropylene and PVC coated wires. The latter material is the cheapest and has a negative effect on the sound, i.e. has low quality. The longer the cable, the stronger the effect of PVC is.
Step 5
If you want to achieve the purest possible sound, you should not use the cables that come with the purchased equipment. This is due to the fact that manufacturers often save on the production of components, and therefore a high-quality wire can only be purchased separately.
