It is fashionable these days to indulge in memories of the twentieth century. One of its symbols is a vinyl record. If you have such records, but do not have a turntable for them, you can make it yourself.

Instructions

Step 1

Select the correct turntable model for use in your DIY turntable. It should be both monophonic and stereo, but it must be designed for the use of a piezoelectric head. If you have records not only at 33, but also at 45 or 78 rpm, the device should be able to operate at those speeds. In all cases, the motor of the playing device must be asynchronous and mains.

Step 2

If the proposed electric player does not have a head, or it is in a deplorable state, and you do not have another suitable one, it is better to refuse the purchase, unless you know exactly where you can buy a working head separately.

Step 3

Under no circumstances connect the motor of the playing device directly to the mains, since it is almost always designed for a voltage of 127 V. Purchase a special autotransformer designed to power American 110-volt electrical appliances from a 220-volt electrical network. Such devices are found on sale, in particular in hardware stores. Through it and connect the engine to the network. The capacitor, which is necessary for the operation of the engine, is already in the device. It is connected in advance.

Step 4

Place the turntable in any suitable sturdy, fireproof, and dielectric enclosure that will not touch the motor circuits. Lead the shielded cable coming from the head out of the housing, laying it in such a way that it does not touch the power circuits.

Step 5

Connect the output of the turntable to computer speakers with a built-in amplifier. If the turntable is monaural, connect the speaker stereo inputs in parallel.

Step 6

Turn on the power to the speakers and autotransformer. Put your player to the test.
