Many homes already have routers - devices that create miniature Wi-Fi hotspots. Naturally, one installation of a router in an apartment is not enough to create a wireless network. It is also necessary to be able to correctly configure the modes of its operation and other parameters.

Step 1
Choose the "correct" router. To do this, you need to decide on the coverage area of the future wireless network and on the possible options for data encryption (WEP, WPA or WPA2).
Step 2
Connect the router to an Internet connection cable provided by your ISP via the Internet or WAN port. Insert a network cable into any free LAN slot, and connect the other end to a computer or laptop. In the address bar of your browser, write https://192.168.0.1. The router settings window will open in front of you. Select the item related to the Internet connection settings and enter all the data required by your ISP
Step 3
Open the item responsible for the wireless network settings. Specify the following parameters:
- Network name (SSID) and password.
- the required data encryption option. Save the settings and reboot the router. Sometimes this requires a complete power off for 15-20 seconds.
Step 4
For better protection, you can register the valid MAC addresses of the network adapters that will be allowed access to the wireless network. You can view the MAC addresses of laptops as follows: press Win + R, enter "cmd" in the line, in the console that appears, write "ipconfig / all".
